The Motherhood Café - Preparing for Birth : What to Expect During Labor, Delivery and Newborn Care

  • Webster 150 Linden Avenue Lynchburg, VA, 24503 United States (map)

Birth philosophies, labor plans, newborn hospital procedures, postpartum plans -- these are just some of the things to think about as you prepare for birth. We'll talk with mothers, educators and care providers to find out the things you should think about before "delivery day". Is a birth plan necessary? What should you and your partner discuss before you head to the hospital? What does your labor support look like? You don't have to be a first-time mom to benefit from this Cafe. Bring your questions and your pregnant friends!

Our programs are FREE and OPEN to the public. See details below for information regarding our FREE childcare, up to age four.

As always, we will also be broadcasting via Facebook Live!

Our Cafe mornings close with peer-led small groups on Pregnancy/Birth, Infancy (0-6 months, 6-12 months) and Parenting. During small group time, we are often able to offer Care Group for those walking through infertility, miscarriage and child loss.

Children under one, can stay right with you. For children between the ages of one and four, we offer FREE on-site childcare.

---Childcare slots are limited and registration is on a first come first serve basis. Childcare reservations will be accepted no sooner than a week prior to a Cafe event and can be made by e-mailing childcare@themotherhoodcollective.org with the following information:

  • Mother's full name/contact phone number/e-mail address

  • Child's full name

  • Child's Age and birth date

  • List any allergies or list "none"

  • First time in childcare: yes or no

Reservations will be secured in the order that they are received. Once childcare for the event is full, reservation requests will be added to the wait-list and mother will be informed if a slot becomes available. Thank you. If you have sent an email and have not received a response within 48 hours please text (540) 797-2926 to inquire. Thanks!
